WaterSaver Rain Sensor Coupon
NOTE: The WaterSaver Rain Sensor Coupon program ended March 1, 2014. Please browse our other current coupon and rebate programs.
All in-ground irrigation systems – both residential and commercial – are required by
city ordinance to have a functioning rain sensor. However, anecdotal evidence suggests that many are nonfunctioning or missing despite the legal requirement.
A functioning rain sensor, which prevents an irrigation system from going off in the rain, can save up to 20 percent of a site's outdoor water use, benefiting both the customer and the community over time.
That's why for a limited time, SAWS is offering a WaterSaver Rain Sensor Coupon good for a free wireless rain sensor and $60 toward the cost of installation through a participating licensed irrigator. This program gives those with older systems (installed prior to Jan. 1, 2012) an opportunity to bring their system into compliance and to verify water savings when a high-quality rain sensor is provided.
The WaterSaver Rain Sensor Coupon program continues through March 1, 2014. All
paper applications must be postmarked by midnight March 1, 2014. SAWS reserves the right to extend or revive the program at a later date based on program evaluation.

Why offer a free rain sensor if they are required by law?

Any SAWS water customer (residential or commercial) with an irrigation system installed before Jan. 1, 2012 and has their backflow prevention device currently registered with SAWS and inspected by a certified inspector.

What is the value of the rain sensor being provided?
The type of rain sensor being provided can retail for more than $100 when sold in irrigation supply stores or through contractors. SAWS has made a bulk purchase to provide a high-quality product at a great value for ratepayers.
