Water Conservation Fellowship
The Water Conservation Fellowship is funded through the proceeds generated from the Annual Watersaver Awards Luncheon.
Purpose
To provide a collegiate fellowship for U.S. students currently attending a college or university in the United States and pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, and a career path, involving water resources, water quality or water conservation. The Water Conservation Fellowship will be awarded to a student entering their junior or senior year of college in the Fall of 2008 or during a graduate study program. The Water Conservation Fellowship is funded through the proceeds generated from the Annual Watersaver Awards Luncheon.
The fellowship will be dispersed to one or two applicants.
Applicants Must Demonstrate

- Strong Interest in Water Conservation or Water Resource Career
- Communication Skills
- Leadership Experience
- Participation in Citizenship and Community Service Projects
- Must Schedule & Participate in Paid Internship to Receive Fellowship
Who May Apply
College/Graduate Student
Any U.S. student enrolled in a college or university in the 2008-2009 school year, who meets the following criteria:
- Will begin their junior or senior year of undergraduate studies or enrolled in a graduate program in the Fall of 2008.
- Enrolled in a field of study, and pursuing a career path involving or relating to water resources, water quality or water conservation.
Application Process
The Water Conservation Fellowship application must be completed and submitted by the indicated deadline date. Only fully qualified applicants will be considered. Fellowships may be used for any study focused on and leading to a career involving water resources. All applicants will be informed when their application is received. Applicants who are selected to receive the Water Conservation Fellowship will be required, by signed agreement, to remain in the field of study for the duration of the fellowship as required by the Water Conservation Fellowship Committee.

Applications received after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2008
will not be considered.
The Water Conservation Fellowship Selection Committee will begin immediate review of fellowship applications as they are received. While the final deadline is May 2, 2008, selection of recipients may begin as early as April 15, 2008. As a result, applicants are encouraged to get their applications in as soon as possible. Fellowship Winner will be notified by mail and may be recognized at the Annual WaterSaver Awards Luncheon.
Selection Committee Ranking Process:
The Selection Committee for the Water Conservation Fellowship will review the application forms to score applicants on a point system. The college applicant with the highest scores will be offered a fellowship.

- Commitment to One Semester of a Paid Internship with the SAWS Conservation Department

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The GPA listed on the application must correspond to the official college transcripts.
Other Important Information
The section “INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS” must be given to the applicant. It covers basic requirements for applicants, materials to submit and a suggested due date.
The “Certification By Applicant” section is designed to emphasize requirements and certify all information contained on the application is correct and truthful. FALSIFICATION OF ANY PART OF THE FELLOWSHIP APPLICATION WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF THE APPLICATION AND/OR FORFEITURE OF THE FELLOWSHIP.
An official transcript is required to be sent directly to the SAWS Conservation Department.
Letters of Reference sent with the application materials will be considered. Reference letters are not required but are encouraged.
