Come find out what you can do to preserve & conserve your corner of the world! It's fun for the whole family, and best of all, it's free!
Saturday, April 19 Woodlawn Lake Park 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Planned festivities include a 5K run, bird tours, and even canoe races. There will also be a variety of information booths, veggie foods, and wildscaping demonstrations.
SAWS is co-sponsoring the event along with District 7 City Councilman Julian Castro, the mayor's office and Woodlawn Lake-area neighborhood associations.
Since its beginning in 1970, Earth Day has been based on the simple philosophy that ordinary people, acting together, can achieve extraordinary things to help protect and preserve our environment.
According to the Earth Day Network, the first Earth Day led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the passage of the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species acts.
