Program Requirements

Water Conservation
Participating golf courses agree to:

  • Irrigate at no more than 100% of ET
  • Conduct and submit irrigation system audits and submit annually to SAWS
  • Report monthly water use to SAWS
  • Designate priority areas requiring irrigation.
  • Install irrigation meter and rain sensors
  • Follow daily watering times according to San Antonio City Ordinance

Golf CourseWildlife and Open Space
Participating golf courses agree to:

  • Submit Inventory of flora and fauna on the site
  • Allow for scheduled bird watching or other environmental program minimum of twice annually

Water Quality
Participating golf courses agree to:

  • Provide to SAWS a listing of certified applicators and hours of training for golf course staff
  • Maintain chemical storage areas consistent with regulatory standards
  • Make available Texas Department of Agriculture reports to SAWS for review on annual basis
  • Dispose of hazardous materials at an approved disposal site

Community Outreach
Participating golf courses agree to:

  • Develop a community outreach plan that includes programs for youth and submit annual calendar of events to SAWS
