Fix A Leak Program

Hear that? That's the sound of your money going down the drain. Not to mention the thousands of gallons of water being wasted because of running toilets, dripping faucets, and other household leaks.

  Tighten Up
Try these tips for finding and fixing leaks around your home:

What if you could find those leaks and put a stop to them for good? Just think of all the water and money you could save.

That's the idea behind San Antonio Water System's Fix a Leak program. In fact, we're so sure that you will save water, we're investing our share of the cost savings back into the community, through donations to local nonprofit organizations.

15 minute checkup = $5 rebate

The simple, one-page checkup form includes step-by-step instructions to help residents find hidden leaks in and around their homes – leaks that can waste thousands of gallons of water.

Residents simply complete and return the forms to SAWS. Each participating resident will receive a $5 credit on their water bill. (Credit will appear on SAWS bills after April 8, 2010. Customer is responsible for all charges billed until the credit appears.)

A rebate that 'pays it forward' to those in need

When you return your checkup form to SAWS by the deadline, a matching $5 donation will be made to Project Agua, a payment assistance program for customers in financial crisis.

Return checkup forms by April 1, 2010

All forms must be completed and postmarked to SAWS no later than April 1, 2010. Forms may be submitted in person or by mail to:

  • SAWS Conservation Department
  • ATTN: Fix a Leak Program
  • 2800 U.S. Hwy 281 North
  • San Antonio, TX 78212

Any forms received after the deadline will not be eligible for customer rebates or organization donations.

Think globally – Act locally

The SAWS program is part the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's annual WaterSense Fix a Leak Week. Occurring every March – this year from March 15-21 – the nationwide effort reminds all Americans to check their plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks.

Save water and energy too!

As long as you're in a home checkup mood, why not pass the savings along to your energy bill? Hop over to CPS Energy's Home Energy Audit page to learn how.
