Any non-profit group that can set a goal of enlisting the participation of at least 25 SAWS residential customers who are interested in replacing older toilets with new, more efficient ones. Examples of eligible groups are Homeowner Associations, Church Groups, Parent/Teacher Associations (PTA), Service Clubs, Youth Groups, Youth Sports Associations, Volunteer Groups and Garden Clubs.
How does the Program Work?
Non-Profit organizations contact SAWS at 704-SAVE to enroll in one of four mandatory Season to Save training sessions. The purpose of these training sessions is to provide group representatives with specifics and rules. Applications for participation will be completed during the training sessions. In order to participate in the Season to Save Community Challenge a group must provide documentation of non-profit status and have at least one representative in attendance at one of the four training sessions.
Once all groups have enrolled and attended the mandatory training, SAWS will print flyers for the purpose of signing up qualified SAWS customer to receive free, high quality toilets that are distributed through Season to Save. The flyer has places for interested customers to fill in their name, address and the number of toilets (up to two) that they would like to receive. Flyers identify the participating organization.
Applications are mailed or brought to SAWS Conservation Department at SAWS Multipurpose Room -
2800 U.S. Hwy 281 North, San Antonio, TX 78212. Applications will be accepted by SAWS from September 13 to December 21, 2007 .
Customers are pre-qualified by SAWS to make sure that they meet requirements for receiving the free toilets. They must be SAWS customers, own a home constructed before 1992 and must not have already received free toilets or a rebate through SAWS.
Customers who meet the required qualifications will receive a large postcard that is their voucher for receiving toilets. The postcard will have the time and date of the toilet distribution event as well as the number of toilets that the customer may pick up.
Customers will need to bring their voucher with them to the scheduled toilet distribution event on the proper date and time to pick up their free toilets.
Incentives will be determined for each non-profit organization based on the actual number of toilets picked up by SAWS customers during the scheduled Season to Save Toilet Distribution Event. Groups will only receive credit for toilets picked up by customers they enrolled in the program.
Water Saving Bonus
SAWS likes to encourage customers to install their new toilets quickly. This makes the water and money savings begin immediately! To help us meet the goal of getting all new toilets installed during the first month after distribution, we have a bonus system. The bonus system rewards non-profit groups whose participants install the toilets and have their water usage drop as a result. How can the non-profit organization make sure the toilets are installed within a month? They contact their participants and remind them of the bonus system and ask nicely to please help by installing their toilets soon. More details of the bonus system will be explained during the Season to Save training.
