SWAT Program Goals
The central goal of the SWAT program is to teach participating students the C.O.R.E values by:

  • Providing high school students and teachers background information about local, regional, and historical water issues through field observations and hands-on investigations.
  • Offering SAWS staff as a resource to SWAT members and keeping them up-to-date on events and issues at SAWS.
  • Connecting SWAT members with community partners who are also involved with water resource issues.
  • Providing a service-learning opportunity that will motivate members on subjects such as the environment and their community.
  • Involving members in their community by requiring water based "Service Learning Projects".
  • Increasing members' self-confidence and professionalism.
  • Transforming SWAT members from applied science to active citizenship.
