Field Investigations are FREE of charge to schools in the SAWS service area, however bus transportation to and from the site is the responsibility of the school. 

Down the Drain: Investigating Water After The Flush
What happens to San Antonio’s water after it is flushed? Learn about our wastewater system as you take a bus tour of SAWS’ largest treatment facility.
Time: 2 hours
Grades: 6-8
Requirements: transportation to the fieldtrip site must be provided by the school, group sizes are limited to one bus
Drinking Water Basics: Exploring the Urban Water Cycle
Learn about our drinking water operation and distribution as you take a tour of a SAWS primary pump station.  Find out what the Urban Water Cycle is and how it is a part of the Earth’s hydrologic system.
Time: 2 hours
Grades: 6-8
Requirements: transportation to the fieldtrip site must be provided by the school, group sizes are limited to one bus
Groundwater Sleuthing
Visit a local city park to investigate how groundwater is formed and the importance of this underground water source to our local drinking water system. Students will have an opportunity to see an actual Edwards Aquifer recharge feature.
Time: 3 hours
Grades: 6-8
