Get out and learn!

H2O University provides excellent field based opportunities for students to learn how our water gets from rain to drain.

FT.1 Exploring Urban Water
Investigate urban water up close as you take a bus tour of SAWS' facilities including a pump station and wastewater treatment facility. Group sizes are limited to one bus.

Recommended for students in grade 6-8.
Average time to conduct investigation: 3 hours.
FT.2 Walker Ranch City Park
Surface Water Tour
Using Salado Creek as a case study, take a tour of this stream-side park and discuss the concepts of riparian habitat, watersheds and urban development. Group sizes are limited to 70 students.

Recommended for students in grade 6-8.
Average time to conduct investigation: 2 hours.
FT.3 Dos Rios Water Recycling Center
Water Recycling Tour
Learn about our wastewater system as you take a bus tour of SAWS’ largest treatment facility.

Group sizes are limited to one bus.

Recommended for students in grade 6-8.
Average time to conduct investigation: 2 hours.
FT.4 Water Conservation 101
Conservation Tour
Learn the importance of water conservation as you visit the San Antonio Water System's headquarters. Group sizes are limited to one bus.

Recommended for students in grade 6-8.
Average time to conduct investigation: 2 hours.

Requirements: Transportation to the field trip sites must be provided by the school and reservations for field trips are subject to availability.
