Welcome to H2O University’s
Educator’s Learning Institute!
The San Antonio Water System understands that
education efforts in San Antonio cannot happen without educators
and their dedication to water education. After all, educators
are the ones who talk to, inform and inspire the young people
of this community each and every day.
That is why the San Antonio Water System’s H2O University
has developed this series of educator workshops with the goal of broadening
an educator’s horizons about water issues in this community and
providing them with physical resources to conduct a comprehensive water
lesson after returning to the classroom. While specific classes may be
recommended for certain grades and disciplines, all of the classes offered
are open to educators regardless of their disciplines in grades PreK-12.
Educators who participate in these classes may earn SBEC as well as TEEAC
(Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee) credit from the TEA.
SBEC- H2O University is an authorized State Board of Education
(SBEC) site offering Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours for
those who attend the Educator Learning Institute workshops. Please ask
the individual workshop instructors for verification of attendance upon
completion of the workshop.
TEEAC- The Texas Environmental Education Advisory Committee (TEEAC) coordinates
with other state agencies that are charged with the development of environmental
education materials. TEEAC cooperates with a network of 120 providers
of environmental education professional development, including universities,
industry, museums and nature centers. This network of TEEAC Sites and
Programs helps assure that teacher professional development offered by
formal and non-formal providers is educationally sound and consistent
with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
The Educator’s Learning Institute will offer TEEAC credit to those
educators that are interested. Please ask each individual workshop instructor
for a copy of the TEEAC tracking sheet and the appropriate decals.
Please Note: H2O University staff is accepting proposals for additional
water related educational classes. If you have an idea, suggestion or
wish to offer a class, please contact the Youth Education Team.
