Our wastewater and environmental experts work closely with local, state and federal regulatory agencies to ensure our wastewater and drinking water operations comply with the spirit and the letter of the law.  SAWS’ “A-rated” wastewater treatment operation has been acclaimed as one of the best environmental programs in the country.

		Mitchell Lake This unique reclamation project has helped transform a wastewater discharge area into a world-renowned refuge for shore birds and waterfowl.
		Resource Protection As a result of increased development in Bexar County and the potential for polluting the Edwards Aquifer, SAWS is taking a proactive approach to protecting our water quality.
		Water Recycling Each day millions of gallons of recycled water for non-drinking use are produced at four recycling centers owned and operated by SAWS.
		Clean Air Drive Program For many years SAWS has supported efforts to reduce air pollution in the Alamo Region to preserve our natural resources.
