2018 Benefits

Need information on SAWS employee benefits? SAWS 2018 Open Enrollment is from Oct. 9-30, 2017. This section provides you detailed information, tools and resources to assist you in understanding and accessing the wide variety of benefits offered to SAWS employees.

Information contained in this section will answer questions regarding the available health, dental, vision and flexible spending account plans.

Changes for 2018

There are no changes to the plan designs offered in 2018. SAWS will continue to offer a choice of two plans: the PPO Economy and EPO Plus, as well as dental and vision coverage provided by UnitedHealthcare. This year's enrollment will be a passive enrollment, meaning if you're satisfied with your current benefit plan selections, you don't need to do anything. However, if you want to participate in a Flexible Spending Account next year, you must complete a 2018 enrollment.

Premiums and Spousal Surcharge
While there are no changes to the plan designs, there will be an increase in medical and dental premiums for 2018. Additionally, the spousal surcharge will increase from $100 per month to $125 per month in 2018. If you’re eligible to waive the spousal surcharge, you must complete the waiver form and submit it to Human Resources by Nov. 1. If you already have a waiver on file and your spouse continues to be eligible for one of the exceptions described on the waiver form, you do not have to file a new form for 2018.

Flexible Spending Account
If you want a health or dependent care Flexible Spending Account (FSA) next year, you MUST enroll for 2018 via Infor Lawson Employee Self-Service during Open Enrollment, even if you already have an account this year. If you’ll have an unused health care FSA balance this year, you must enroll in an account for next year in order for the balance to roll over to 2018. The medical care FSA limit for 2018 is $2,600, while the dependent care FSA limit is unchanged at $5,000.

Spousal Surcharge
