Over a Barrel

image

The soggy weather was so apropos for what’s being touted as the largest rain barrel distribution in the nation. More than 3,000 SAWS customers lined the streets surrounding SAWS Headquarters Jan. 14 to collect their pre-purchased 50-gallon plastic containers. In December 2016, SAWS offered residential customers a coupon to purchase up to two rain barrels for a deeply discounted price. Though the line was long, the loading was swift as more than 100 volunteers helped load and secure the barrels into pickups, passenger vehicles and even a wee little SMART car.
