Tons and Tons of Meds

It’s been eight years since the first MedDropSA was held and the collection event is still going strong. More than 2,500 pounds of pills, liquids and other drugs were collected during the May event at Brooks City Base on the Southeast Side. To date, MedDropSA has collected more than 40,000 pounds of discarded medicines — that’s over 20 tons of medications collected since the program started in 2009!

Did you miss the MedDropSA collection in May? The next event is Sept. 16 at Alamo City Church, 6500 Interstate 35 North on the city’s East Side.
