SAWS Asks Everyone to Check for Leaks during Fix a Leak Week, March 16-20
(3/16/09)
SAWS is joining the Environmental Protection Agency in encouraging everyone to be proactive and check their plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks.
Since water loss can happen in unexpected places around your home, it’s easy to miss them or put off repairs. On average, leaks account for 11,000 gallons of water wasted per household every year. That’s enough to fill a homeowner’s backyard swimming pool!
Common types of leaks found inside and outside the home include leaking toilet flappers, dripping faucets or showerheads, outdoor spigots, and broken sprinkler heads. The good news: These are repairs the average homeowner can make.
Conserving water today is an important part of ensuring that we’ll all have water tomorrow. Plus you’ll save money on your water bill too. Not a bad deal!
Visit SAWS Web site http://www.saws.org/service/repairs/ for easy, step-by-step instructions on detecting leaks and making the repairs, as well as directions for installing high efficiency showerheads and faucet aerators.
For a limited time, you can also pick up a free retrofit kit at one of SAWS Service Centers located at:
