Water Supply Workshop Agenda

Overview of SAWS 2009 Water Management Plan

Opportunities, Concerns – Project Analysis

Workshop Sign-In Sheet

San Antonio Water System, a municipally owned utility, provides water and wastewater services to more than 1 million consumers in the San Antonio area.

SAWS is regularly approached by various groups interested in providing water resources to the utility. It is often difficult to assess the relative value of these proposals due to widely differing terms, conditions, cost calculation methodologies and degree of development of the concept.

In order to garner valuable insight and perspectives, SAWS invites interested water industry organizations and consultants to provide input at a Water Supply Workshop on Tuesday, May 19.

Information gathered from the workshop will assist SAWS in developing procurement documents related to potential water supply projects. A major component of SAWS 50-Year Water Management Plan, the development of future water supply projects is vital to the continued success and economic viability of this region.

Types of Future Water Supply Projects to be Considered:

  • Groundwater
  • Surface water
  • Desalination
  • Recharge
  • Other

The purpose of the workshop is to gather information that may benefit the development of future water supply projects to San Antonio. It is NOT a request for specific proposals. SAWS will be prepared at a future date to issue proposal requests.
