Sewer Spill in West San Antonio Contained on Private Property

During routine pipe cleaning, SAWS crews discovered and began cleanup efforts on a sewer spill in a brushy area near U.S. Highway 90 and Hunt Lane.

Estimated size of the spill is greater than 100,000 gallons. Due to recent rainfall as well as intermittent flow in the dry creekbed, it is difficult to determine the exact amount.

It is believed that the spill was caused by a combination of heavy rainfall in the area and a displaced manhole cover. SAWS crews are onsite, and working to clean up the area.

Customers are always encouraged to immediately contact SAWS at 704-SAWS (7297) to report water and sewer main breaks on a 24-hour basis.
