Thunderstorms Result in Sewer Overflows
(3/28/18)
San Antonio Water System crews are responding to sewer spills that occurred as a result of heavy thunderstorms this morning.
The spills occurred at 6606 Swiss Oak near Pinn Road and Leon Creek, and Lackland AFB near Chappie James Way Road.
The spill amounts are estimated to have exceeded the need for public notice. See TCEQ notice for more details. No adverse effects are expected since the spills were heavily diluted by storm water. SAWS will continue to monitor nearby areas for additional spills.
SAWS has more than $170 million in capital improvements budgeted in 2018 to replace and upgrade sewer lines throughout San Antonio. SAWS will spend approximately $72 million over the next two years upgrading the sewer line in this area. For an interactive map and details on sewer project construction, visit www.saws.org/sewer.
See TCEQ Notice (pdf) for more details.
