In August 2001 SAWS finalized a contract with TLM/Garden-Ville to conduct all compost-related activities for SAWS. The move is intended to provide better service for compost customers and lower costs for SAWS ratepayers. TLM/Garden-Ville is a local firm with established compost and marketing operations.
The change will save SAWS at least $90,000 per year in operational costs and $200,000 per year from reduced vehicle maintenance. Also, SAWS will receive 5% of all revenues from compost sales.
A larger marketing effort and more sales locations will mean that compost can contribute more than ever before to water conservation and recycling in the San Antonio area!
