Ever pick through your garbage? No? Well then, what are you waiting for? Put on some rubber gloves, hold your breath and dig in. Chances are you'll find lots of stuff you shouldn't trash. Valuables like glass bottles, plastic containers and aluminum cans for example. They're not only a waste to throw away, they can contaminate our water when improperly disposed. So think before you toss and recycle instead.

H2O Tips
  • Use recycled and recyclable products whenever possible.
  • Use products that are biodegradable.
  • Separate recyclable items to be picked up by the city. For pickup times in your area, call the City of San Antonio Customer Service by dialing 311.
  • Use coffee mugs instead of disposable cups.
  • Use cloth napkins or towels instead of ones made with paper.
  • Use old clothes for cleaning rags.
  • Purchase rechargeable batteries and refillable pens and pencils.
  • Line wastebaskets with grocery bags.
