Just a few years ago, San Antonio was totally dependent on day-to-day pumping from the Edwards Aquifer for the city's water needs. Now, as a result of extensive planning, and funding through the Water Supply Fee, SAWS is working to secure San Antonio's water future.

SAWS President/CEO David Chardavoyne appointed an ad hoc task force to conduct a comprehensive review of current water supply plans. The result is this proposed update to the 50-year water resource plan.

In an effort to reduce dependence on the Edwards Aquifer, SAWS developed its first long-term water plan. The document outlines potential sources to meet the area's water needs for the next 50 years.
