SAWS 2002 Annual Report

Providing water and wastewater service for San Antonio is a team effort.

San Antonio Water System’s (SAWS) success in building an effective and efficient water utility is due in large part to our philosophy of teamwork. On any given day, a visitor at SAWS can encounter employee teams, citizens committees, area water agency staff members, as well as SAWS staff working together to ensure San Antonio citizens receive the highest quality water service possible.

Recognition of that success was evident in 2002 as Texas Governor Rick Perry pointed to San Antonio as the State’s leader in water use efficiency and water resource planning. Working and planning together is not always the quickest path to the top, but SAWS has proven that cooperative efforts produce positive bottom line results.

That’s the reason the SAWS team is moving forward under the banner of:

Our Water. Our Future.

At SAWS, our team consists of SAWS employees as well as community
members. (clockwise from top left) SAWS is educating young people like Angelica to become tomorrow’s water leaders. SAWS employees like Ruben Barrera work through the heat of summer and the cold of winter to maintain and develop our water and wastewater system. Advice on Water Resource projects from members of our Citizens Advisory Panel like Chairwoman Sister Jane Slater is important in developing new resources. Governmental leaders like State Representative Robert Puente provide great insight into planning our future.
