SAWS is the largest water purveyor in the greater San Antonio area, and one of the most well-respected water utilities in the nation. Our goals remain the same – to serve our ratepayers as excellent water stewards and to become the best water utility in the nation by 2006.
Our intent with this publication is to explain the immense commitment that we willingly make each and every day. In reviewing 2003, this effort was very clear as we:
- Significantly increased participation in our Conservation Program (used as a
model for many other cities).
- Increased higher customer satisfaction levels.
- Substantially upgraded security levels in and around our facilities.
- Proactively educated our community about critical issues such as water resources, our aging infrastructure, major construction projects, etc.
- Established and built personal relationships with business leaders, neighborhood groups and civic organizations. This helps foster a sense of community responsibility with regard to this precious commodity we call water.
- Developed a more comprehensive training program for SAWS employees.
- Improved our methods of measuring and evaluating our strategic plans and objectives.
- Received numerous national, state and local awards that affirm that we are doing the right things in becoming the best water utility.
We realize, however, that there are still plenty of challenges and opportunities ahead of us, namely:
- Our infrastructure needs.
- Establishing appropriate rates for our service with a keen sensitivity to all of our ratepayers.
- Fine-tuning our organizational structure to better serve our customers.
Rest assured we are up to the task, as we look forward to serving you with excellence.
