Most organizations are only as good as the sum of their parts. Likewise at SAWS, our
successes and industry accolades can be traced directly back to our greatest asset – our
family of dedicated employees.
We highly value these professional men and women, who often go unnoticed in providing
the community with uninterrupted water and wastewater service. SAWS actively supports
employees in several ways:
- Active Duty Military Leave – The last thing a SAWS reservist needs to
worry about when called to active duty is loss of income or benefits. Our employees
keep their full benefits intact when on active duty and receive “differential pay”
(if needed) to prevent a drop in income.
- Career Development – We financially support our employees’ career
development through a variety of educational opportunities in water and wastewater
certification, communications, safety and environment, and technical programs.
SAWS also offers tuition reimbursement for continuing education at area colleges.
- Benefits – SAWS offers competitive benefits plans to all regular full-time
employees and their families. Benefits include medical, dental, prescription drug, life
insurance, retirement plans, paid holidays, workers’ compensation, FMLA leave,
vacation and sick leave. And we follow the City’s lead in setting a “living wage”
or standard of living minimum (set above federal and state minimum wages)
for our employees.
- Wellness and Work Life Programs – SAWS promotes a culture of
diversity, wellness, healthy lifestyle choices and family support programs.
- Community Service – SAWS encourages employees to give back to the
community by participating in volunteer organizations. Our Community
Activities Team (CAT), for instance, donates hundreds of service hours throughout
the year earning recognition from local charities for their selfless work and
outstanding support.
