National Awards

  1. Outstanding Achievement in Water Quality Improvement Award for 2003
    SAWS’ Recycled Water Program received from the Water Environment Federation (WEF).
  2. 2003 National Clean Water Act Recognition Award Program for Storm Water Management Excellence. Second place from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
  3. American Water Works Association’s National Pipe Tapping Team competition, sixth place. The SAWS team won first place at the Texas American Water Works Association conference and represented Texas during the national competition. As previous national champions, our team still holds the national record time for pipe tapping. In addition, the national Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies (AMSA) recognized SAWS with three Peak Performance Awards for achieving high compliance standards with the Texas Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) permit during the year.

    • Dos Rios Water Recycling Center – Gold Award
    • Medio Creek Water Recycling Center – Gold Award
    • Leon Creek Water Recycling Center – Silver Award
  1. Water Environment Federation National Conference poster competition, first place; “New Life for Old Drying Beds.”
  2. Excellence in Management, Association of Metropolitan Sewerage Agencies. Recognizing the organization’s successful initiatives that address management challenges facing public wastewater utilities. Demonstrated continued management excellence. Recognition is valid for three years (2003-2006).
