Willie A. Mitchell owns a construction and contracting business in San Antonio.

Mitchell graduated from Tennessee A&I State University. Subsequently he played for the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs starting in 1964. Mitchell helped the Chiefs win the Super Bowl Championship in 1969. He retired from football in 1973, and since then has split his time between business, politics, and community service.

Mitchell has served as the Vice President of the Corporation for Educational Development, and educational consultant for the U.S. Department of Education Southwest Regional Training Center. He has worked with students in Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Kansas, New York, New Mexico, and Texas to implement a program to prevent and reduce problems associated with disruptive behavior in the home and school.

Mitchell also offers technical assistance to participating school districts working with faculties, parents, or others wishing to support a positive school environment.

Mitchell currently serves as the Chair of San Antonio Fighting Back Inc. and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County. He has previously served on the Alamo Workforce Development Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards recognizing his community service at the local, state, and national levels.

Mitchell is married to Sheralin L. Mitchell.
