SAWS Volunteers In Service
The SAWS Community Activity Team (CAT) strives to be a positive
force within the community by assembling a dedicated volunteer base throughout
SAWS to improve residents' quality of life directly and through charitable organizations and social service agencies.
To fulfill its mission, CAT:
- Receives volunteer requests and seeks out volunteer opportunities from local charitable
agencies;
- Solicits and coordinates volunteers for projects in support of these
agencies;
- Identifies, designs and staffs its own projects for community service.
In
2003, approximately 25 percent of SAWS' employees participated in
almost 50 charitable events and logged nearly 2,500 volunteer hours. From painting the homes of those who are economically disadvantaged to adopting the St. Peter-St. Joseph Children's Home, devoted CAT volunteers are always ready to serve their community and improve the lives of San Antonians one project at a time!
