2001 Jan. 9 EAA issues final permits on 309 uncontested applications
2001 Jan. 26 Memorandum of Understanding between SAWS and LCRA approved by the two agencies. Under the proposal, up to 150,000 acre feet of water could be provided to San Antonio for up to 50 years.
2001 Jan. 26 GBRA/SARA/SAWS Agreement for delivery of up to 70,000 acre feet per year of surface water to San Antonio approved by SAWS Board of Trustees.
2001 Mar. 18 Catfish Farm Acquisition - SAWS acquires 10,000 acre feet plus a 5 year lease on all additional rights plus a right of first refusal.
2001 May 18 GBRA/SARA/SAWS Agreement for delivery of up to 70,000 acre feet per year of surface water to San Antonio for use within the San Antonio River Basin executed.
2001 May Texas Legislature confirms 38 new groundwater districts
2001 May 16 House Bill 1629 was signed by the Governor enabling LCRA to sell surface water outside their basin.
2001 June 20 TNRCC issues permit amendment for Canyon Lake
2001 Sept. 1 Senate Bill 2 (SB2) becomes effective further defining water resource planning within the state
2001 Dec. 31 First State Water Plan approved by the Texas Water Development Board
