1993 Jan. San Antonio Water System develops an outline of a bill which would offer protection to the Endangered Species while preventing reduced use of the Aquifer.
1993 Feb. Judge Bunton issues his judgment in the Sierra Club et al vs. Manual Lujan, Jr. (The Endangered Species Lawsuit). His order required protection of Comal and San Marcos Springs with guaranteed spring flows of 100 cfs or greater and gave the Texas Legislature until May 31, 1993 to come up with a management plan.
1993 April The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Sierra Club reach an agreement, which automatically stops the Fish and Wildlife's appeal of Judge Bunton's ruling.
1993 May 4 San Antonio Water System appropriated $500,000 towards the purchase of Government Canyon Property with the purpose of acquiring sensitive lands for recharge.
1993 May Senate Bill 1477 was passed by the 73rd Texas Legislature and signed by the Governor June 11, 1993. This Bill establishes the Edwards Aquifer Authority to be effective September 1, 1993.
1993 Aug. 11 LULAC questions the legality of equal representation by minorities on the new Edwards Authority appointed board, and files for a Dept. of Justice review.
1993 Sep. 1 Projected date for creation of Edwards Aquifer Authority established by Senate Bill 1477. Authority not established - held up for Justice Dept. review.
1993 Sep. 3 TNRCC's Underground River Rules repealed by Judge Pete Lowry of the 261st District Court of Travis County.
1993 Sep. 22 The catfish farm is issued a water quality permit from the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission.
1993 Nov. 19 Justice Department objects to implementation of SB 1477 that provides for an appointed Authority.
1993 Nov. 22 Mayor Nelson Wolff announces in a news conference the establishment of the 2050 Water Resource Committee to address alternate sources of water and the Committee of the Whole to address water quality issues.
1993 Nov. SAWS adopts Conservation and Reuse Plan.
1993 Dec. 10 Judge Lucious Bunton issues order granting the appointment of a Water Monitor to overlook Edwards Aquifer Regional activities.
