Who We Are
Volunteers @ SAWS
SAWS Community Activity Team (CAT) is composed of SAWS employees eager to make a difference in the
community through a variety of volunteer activities to benefit charitable and nonprofit organizations. CAT not
only responds to volunteer requests but also seeks out opportunities from local charitable agencies.
Fundraising for the Community
CAT supports many organizations and annually organizes the SAWS charity campaign to raise awareness and funds for many deserving groups. In 2012, CAT helped raise more than $140,000 for the United Way Charity Campaign at SAWS. That money was distributed to more than 120 service agencies. During this annual campaign, CAT also supports Project Agua, which assists qualified families in need with water utility payments. They raised more than $20,000 in donations for Project Agua in 2011.
Volunteerism & Donation Drives

CAT also organizes many volunteer efforts and activities throughout the community. These activities include providing volunteers for community events such as the San Antonio River Foundation's Basura Bash. CAT also coordinates internal SAWS donation campaigns, including food drives, pet food drives and providing holiday baskets for children at St. Peter-St. Joseph Children's Home and those residing at local shelters.
By soliciting and coordinating volunteer efforts throughout the year, CAT is always ready to serve the community and improve the lives of San Antonians one project at a time!
