Mission & Vision
San Antonio Water System Board of Trustees has adopted new mission and vision statements and reaffirmed its values, which will all serve as a foundation to move the utility forward through 2015 and reinforce San Antonio's deserved reputation as water's most resourceful city.
"Our mission and vision statements as well as our values make up our core philosophy, describing what we, as an organization, believe; where we stand today; and where we wish to be in the future," said SAWS President/CEO Robert R. Puente.
Puente further detailed the intent behind the new Vision:
"To be leaders essentially means to be leaders in every way an employee can be. From work crews working outside on a cold, rainy day to the individuals who work behind a desk, we all can be leaders when we are doing something for SAWS," he said.
"Delivering means we actively use our people, pipes and trucks to meet our customers' needs to deliver services. Responsible water services means to deliver water services within our customers' terms. For the customer – whether a ratepayer or regional partner – we will balance the customer's needs by being a good steward of water resources.
"For life means a lifetime, forever; and, that water is life," Puente explained.
The Board and SAWS officials will work organization-wide to strategically map SAWS' future, aligning all employee objectives and activities with the overall business plan.
