SAWS is replacing aging water lines. Construction will be along S Ellison Dr from Prescott Dr to Plate Trail Dr, Klondike Dr. from Prescott Dr to Plate Trail Dr, Longmont Dr from Prescott Dr to Plate Trail Dr, and Churing Dr from Prescott Dr to Plate Trail Dr.
Traffic control will be in place, but you may still see lane closures and detours in active work zones. As the project nears completion, we may need to temporarily shut off water service to connect new lines to the existing system. If your service will be affected, we’ll notify you in advance. We appreciate your patience as we make these important upgrades.

S Ellison Dr, Klondike Dr, Longmont Dr, Churing Dr 2023 Water Main Replacement Project 3 will install new HDPE water pipes. These pipes are stronger, last longer, and are built to prevent leaks. This helps reduce water loss and improves reliability in San Antonio’s varying soil conditions.

SAWS Shares Water Line Replacement Plans
October 21, 2025
SAWS staff hosted a meeting with residents from District 4 at the Barbara “Robbie” Robinette Senior Center to provide an update on the upcoming water infrastructure project that was approved by the SAWS Board of Trustees on October 7th.
Set to begin early 2026, this project replaces 4,700 feet of water main – a little over the length of six Towers of the Americas!
During the presentation, SAWS outlined key details including project timeline, process of construction, contractor’s background, and what they should expect this summer. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions to the contractor related to work affecting their homes, neighborhood streets, and parking.
