SAWS is replacing sewer infrastructure as part of our EPA Consent Decree agreement. Construction will take place along S. Presa from Riddle St. to Vitra Pl. Construction will continue along Vitra Pl, from S. Presa to Roosevelt Ave. and then continue along Roosevelt Ave. from S. St. Mary’s to Roosevelt Park Dr. SAWS will employ traffic control to minimize disturbances; however, there will be detours and lane closures in the areas as work takes place.
Bypass pumping lines will run along streets Right of Way and be buried at the St. Mary’s and Playmoor St. intersection. Final pavement restoration will occur once work is complete.

Sewer Line Replacement Project Moves Forward

During the 2025 December Board meeting, the S Presa St – 2023 Sewer Main Replacement 1 was passed by the SAWS Board. The S Presa St site is part of the 2023 Sewer Main Replacement Project 1, a multi-site project. This project is critical to keep sewer infrastructure running properly. Construction is projected to begin Summer 2027.

SAWS Shares New Construction Start Date

SAWS staff hosted a meeting for residents of District 1 at the Roosevelt Clubhouse in June to share information on the upcoming sewer infrastructure project. During the meeting residents shared timeline challenges and SAWS staff worked to address these through start date changes.
This project is now set to begin in May 2027 and will replace 2,810 feet of sewer main – almost the length of 4 Towers of the Americas!
