Bypass has been established; repairs ongoing
San Antonio Water System crews are responding to a sewer spill that occurred earlier at the intersection of Bicentennial Road and Interstate 10 East.
The spill was caused by a 24-inch collapsed concrete sewer main inundated by recent heavy rains and weakening the structure. The spilled amount exceeded the level requiring notice. Crews have established a bypass and are currently working to complete repairs. Rainwater diluted the spill reducing its effects.
Under San Antonio’s EPA consent decree, SAWS has invested $1.2 billion in improvements to the city’s sewage infrastructure over the course of 12 years. For an interactive map and details on sewer project construction, visit www.saws.org/sewer.
