UPDATE: SAWS Ending Boil Water Notice in Helotes-area

Test results confirm water quality

Updated May 25, 2020

San Antonio Water System is rescinding the Boil Water Notice for the far north side area near Helotes after damage by a non-SAWS contractor at 11401 Lago Vista caused loss of service and a drop of pressure in the potable water system in the area.

SAWS conducted tests to ensure that water in the area met all safe drinking water standards. Individuals there can again drink and cook with water from their tap without boiling.

SAWS made phone notifications and social media announcements in the area, and distributed bottled water to affected customers.

A non-SAWS contractor hit a 20-inch water main this evening at 11401 Lago Vista, causing a loss of pressure to customers in the nearby area.

SAWS crews are onsite, and return to service is expected Saturday morning, but state law requires that a boil water notice be issued. Once pressure is restored, water samples will be tested
Saturday morning to validate the water is safe for drinking or cooking use. Final results on the testing will likely not be available till Sunday.

SAWS has made phone notifications to customers in the area, and is providing bottled water for those affected. Customers should look for signage indicating location. Additional information for customers is at SAWS.org or at 210-704-SAWS (7297).

Until the testing results are returned, please only use the water for showering, washing hands, or washing. Out of an abundance of caution, we urge customers to follow proper boil water procedures (see attached) for all cooking and drinking purposes until notified by SAWS on Thursday.
