Construction Project Summary

|
SAWS is installing new water lines along several residential and commercial streets in Districts 8 and 9 to improve water service in the area. Once complete, this project will enhance infrastructure between the Bitters Booster Station and the DeZavala Elevated Tank.
Construction will take place along:
•Lockhill-Selma Road, from Orsinger Road to George Road
•George Road, from Lockhill-Selma to the Shady Walk Drive drainage channel
•The drainage channel running through Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy and the Voelcker Homestead
All work will be within the City of San Antonio (COSA) right of way.
Crews will use both open-cut and bore construction methods, with trench depths reaching up to 18 feet. To reduce inconvenience, traffic control will be in place, but you may still see lane closures and detours in active work zones. We appreciate your patience as we make these important upgrades.

SAWS Shares Water Line Installation Plans
August 20, 2025
SAWS staff hosted a meeting at the Urban Ecology Center in Phil Hardberger Park to discuss the upcoming water infrastructure project.
Set to begin in August of 2025, this project installs 12,600 feet of water main – about the length of 17 Towers of the Americas!
During the presentation, contractors outlined key details including project timeline, process of construction, traffic control plans, and what customers should expect when the project begins. Attendees learned more about which homeowner associations as well as local trails and parks would be under construction.
Towards the end of the meeting, residents had the opportunity to ask questions about how the work may affect their homes and neighborhood streets. District 8 Councilwoman Ivalis Meza Gonzalez attended, gathered input, and answered additional questions.
