Securing San Antonio’s Water Future

Water conservation remains a high priority in San Antonio. Conservation investments have helped keep water costs lower while reducing the need for additional water supplies.

SAWS’ Five-Year Water Conservation Plan provides a comprehensive look at our city’s water use patterns, use reduction targets and strategies associated with water conservation in San Antonio.

2024 DRAFT Water Conservation Plan

With so much community growth in the last five years, it is as important as ever to be efficient with our water supplies. Growth means not only new people, but new neighborhoods, new businesses, new schools, and more. To maintain the vitality of the community, we must work to make sure we are meeting our per capita reduction goals.

Highlights the use reduction targets our community has set and discusses the programmatic, regulatory, and education efforts being made to meet them.

A draft Water Conservation Plan including the proposed drought changes was posted on May 6 and public comments were solicited for the Plan through May 31, 2024. We’re now addressing comments from the community and the SAWS Board to further update and finalize the Plan. The updated 2024 Plan will be available in summer of 2024.
