Juan Gomez
VP - Engineering & Construction
Gomez has been at SAWS since 2017 and oversees pipelines engineering, development engineering and master planning, operations support, plants and major projects, construction and inspections, and project controls.
Gomez has 22 years of experience in planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure, specializing in water treatment and project delivery.
As a SAWS manager of engineering, he oversaw implementation of large diameter sewer capacity projects as part of the Consent Decree with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Gomez oversaw implementation of water, wastewater, and recycled water infrastructure projects totaling approximately $100 million in design value and more than $1 billion in construction value as the director of the Plants and Major Projects Department. He was promoted to his current role in 2024.
Gomez has a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering and a Master of Science. and Ph.D. in environmental engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in Texas, and is a member of the national board of directors of the WateReuse Association.
Engineering and Construction
The Engineering and Construction Group implements projects as part of the annual capital improvement program and provides support to Distribution and Collection, Treatment Operations, Production Operations, and Facilities.
